Medieval history is strongly related to the urban development of most of the villages in Vall de Ribes; the influence of the Romanesque on the land is evident in the churches and hermits, and the civil architectural remains in the Castell de Sant Pere de Ribes de Freser and the Castell de Queralbs. The cottage of Can Recolons in Ribes de Freser is a sample of the modernist constructions that emerged thanks to the industrialization of the valley; the textile mill is also a sample of the industrial heritage, as are the spa resort Montagut and the Hostal de la Corba (inn), with interesting stained-glass windows. The hydraulic heritage of the valley has also left important historic equipments between Queralbs and Ribes de Freser, some of which today still work.
Mare de Déu de Núria Sanctuary
Núria is a busy place of pilgrimage. At a height of almost two thousand meters, it offers not only a refuge amongst high summits, but also the spiritual shelter of an ancient Marian sanctuary with old traditions. It’s an ideal place to organize retreats and days devoted to meditation and prayer.
The priests and the staff that take care of the place are at your disposal, and offer a spiritual atmosphere with a sober liturgy solemnized by the music of an organ.
