The ecological richness of its environment is the valley’s main asset. There’s a constant color shifting throughout the year: from the winter’s white to the intense and thick green of the spring and the summer, or the multicolored fall with its red and ocher.
Fauna
Common Kestrel: it lives on wasteland, on the coasts, in fields and in open habitats. It is a cavity nester, preferring cliffs and old nests. Ovis Ammon (mountain sheep): they tend to live in high woods at the mountains and in the summer even in higher places. It has become in the past few years part of the valley’s fauna, together with the marmot.
Flora
The meadows and pastures of the valley are very rich and varied in terms of their flora as well. The mountains are covered by large woods, being the oak and the pine the most common varieties. The lilium pyrenaicum has become one of the valley’s distinguishing elements because of its singularity and beauty.
Climatology
The weather in Vall the Ribes, typically Pyrenean, is stable in the winter, with low temperatures and snowfalls during the first months of the year, and quite unstable in the spring and summer, with mild temperatures and rain in the afternoon.
